Description

Shot in Vila Planalto, a historic neighborhood in Brasília, this candid photograph captures a fleeting moment of domestic routine. The contrast between the quiet, nearly empty street and the absorbed family evokes a tension between stillness and modern urgency. Their formation—predominantly female, with a young boy pushing the stroller—mirrors contemporary family dynamics, where roles continue to shift and adapt. Though passing close by, they remain inwardly focused, unaware of the camera. It is a slice of everyday life that speaks to changing rhythms within a traditional space.

Biography

Ricardo Abril is a Brazilian photographer from Curitiba, based in Brasília. With a background in film and design, his photography grows from an interest in human beings, culture, and behavior, along with a desire to build visual narratives from everyday life. His work moves between the documentary and the lyrical, exploring the fantastic and the beautiful that emerge from ordinary urban scenes while expressing the emotions awakened by these encounters. For him, photography is a way of being present and connected—an exercise in looking outward while building a personal visual world.
