Description
Seen through the layered glass of an underground passage, a man walks briskly along a Shinjuku avenue above. His arm, caught in reflection, looms disproportionately large, amplifying the firmness of his stride.
Short Bio
Kaori Hijikata, born in Tokyo, began photographing street scenes in 2021. Moving through Tokyo by subway, train, and on foot, she captures moments led by light and shadow, intriguing subjects, and the various textures that fill the city. Starting in the fall of 2023, she began a project documenting a resort area in Nagano Prefecture with a focus on the passage of time.
