Description
Amid the bustling crowds of Tokyo’s Tsukiji Fish Market, this black and white photograph captures a fleeting moment of connection and contrast. Framed by anonymous backs and shoulders, the young boy peers directly at the camera with quiet curiosity while clutching the hand of his mother — whose face is caught mid-sentence, her expression animated against the dense, chaotic backdrop. The crowd swirls with motion, yet this intimate pocket of stillness conveys a tender sense of protection and alertness. The image reveals both the overwhelming energy of the market and the delicate, human moments that unfold within it.
Short Bio
I am an emerging multidisciplinary artist working across photography, motion art, and mixed media. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art in the late 1980s, but paused my artistic career to raise my children. In 2023, I rediscovered my passion for art and have been wholeheartedly pursuing it ever since. Over the past year, I’ve been honoured to be selected as a finalist in several prestigious Australian art awards, participated in numerous group exhibitions, been featured in photographic magazines, and completed my first music video. My black-and-white work often explores themes of emotion, neurodiversity, and resilience. I’m committed to continually experimenting, evolving, and deepening my artistic expression as I further develop and explore my creative voice.
