Portraits at the Periphery

Photographer:

Hiroaki Konishi

Country:

Japan

Description:

As evening falls, the presence of people in the city becomes ambiguous, and the streets often reveal a strangely unfamiliar world. Human activity—struggling against the vast darkness created by nature—appears both powerful and quietly urgent. At this hour, the street is filled with moments in which “life” and “death” are abstracted and intertwined.

Biography:

A photographer working primarily with street snapshots and portrait photography, presented through exhibitions and photobooks. Drawn to the street as a space open to everyone, he finds in it a true sense of freedom.
